Sadly, the time has come to say goodbye to another awesome H+C intern. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Jenna. Read on to hear what this SSU grad has to say about her internship at Health+Commerce.
Jenna, PR Intern
How would you describe our company culture?
Health+Commerce is a group of very hard-working people and the culture is very warm and inviting. The whole staff is one big collaborative team so each individual is important and their work is valued. The company events are super fun, and they create an environment where the H+C members feel like family.
How did the work match your expectations?
Since I had some PR experience, I was a bit more prepared for the work I did. Ultimately, I learned how to be more clear and concise, which is of great importance when writing with strict messaging regulations that come with the industry. I also learned how to use cool programs like TrendKite, Rocketiem, and Buzzsumo, which was a fun learning experience.
What did you learn about medtech PR?
When I first started this internship, I didn’t know much about healthcare or medtech. Within the program, I learned how interesting and challenging this industry is. You have to enter with an open mind and genuinely enjoy learning. Medtech seems incredibly complicated at first glance (and it can be!) but it’s worth diving into.
Do you have any advice for future interns?
My advice for future interns is to stay open-minded and ask questions. If you are interested in learning about a specific client, ask to sit in on a meeting. If you don’t quite understand something, ask for help. If you have suggestions, share them. The key to this position is to be proactive and take initiative – it’s all about your learning experience and excelling at the work that needs to get done.
